Tanjung Jabung Barat, 14 October 2025 – As part of efforts to improve the quality of life for communities around its operational areas, two Asian Agri business units, PT Dasa Anugrah Sejati (PT DAS) and PT Inti Indosawit Subur (PT IIS), provided educational and alternative economic assistance to three partner villages: Penyabungan Village in Merlung District, and Rantau Benar and Pulau Pauh Villages in Renah Mendaluh District, Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency, Jambi. The handover ceremony took place at the Pulau Pauh Village Community Hall on October 7, 2025.
In his remarks, Group Manager of PT DAS, Johannes Halomoan Hutabarat, stated that the event is part of the company’s commitment to advancing sustainability through the Asian Agri 2030 Program. “Asian Agri has a long-term vision embodied in the Asian Agri 2030 Program, which is built on four key pillars, one of which is Inclusive Growth. Today’s activity reflects that pillar, focusing on improving community well-being through better access to education and the development of micro-enterprises to become self-reliant and competitive,” he said.
This program is part of Asian Agri’s commitment to helping children gain access to proper education and to motivating them to continue learning. A total of 42 educational aid packages were distributed through the Bag-To-School program in Penyabungan Village, Rantau Benar Village, and Pulau Pauh Village. The assistance included 22 packages for primary school students, 9 for junior high students, and 9 for senior high students. Each package contained a quality school bag, stationery supplies, a uniform, and a pair of shoes.
In addition to supporting education, Asian Agri is also actively promoting community economic growth through the empowerment of MSMEs. Earlier, the company conducted outreach sessions to help residents identify potential local commodities with economic value and provided training on business strategies.
This support was realized through the donation of seven goats to Pulau Pauh Village and nine goats to Rantau Benar Village. Meanwhile, Penyabungan Village received assistance under the Desa Sawit Mandiri program, which included oil palm seedlings and cultivation training.
Renah Mendaluh District Head, Suhardi, expressed his appreciation for the company’s commitment to supporting community development in the area. “The ongoing support in education, livestock groups, and the independent oil palm village program is expected to help our communities become more self-reliant. I also hope initiatives like these will continue in the coming years,” he said.
Through this year’s Bag-To-School program, Asian Agri distributed educational support packages to 265 students across three regencies in Jambi Province: Tanjung Jabung Barat, Batang Hari, and Tebo. The assistance included 147 packages for elementary school students, 67 for junior high school students, and 51 for senior high school students.
In addition to supporting education, the program also provided business development assistance to 18 MSMEs from six villages, as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to improving community welfare.
