Tanoto Scholars Alumni (TSA) Riau donated 200 books to students at State Elementary School (SDN) 013, Sungai Pisang, Bungus Teluk Kabung District, Padang City, reported Riau Terkini.

Rommy Endrawan, who represented TSA, said the donation was meant to show the alumni’s awareness towards increasing the quality of education in Indonesia. The alumni chose to donate books, because they would help students to become more open-minded.

“By reading books, students will develop a passion to chase their dreams. They will dare to dream,” Rommy said.
Arisman, Head of SDN 013, expressed his gratitude to TSA Riau for donating the books, which have been given to hundreds of students.

The books would aid students in improving their knowledge, he said.

“There are not many books in our district, so the books given to us by TSA are a lot of help – they’ll be very useful,” Arisman said.

The event was organized as a collaboration effort between Tanoto Foundation, Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP), Asian Agri and Apical.

According to RAPP Talent Management Bumantara Gani, TSA members currently work at companies under the Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) group.

“Although they are busy, they still find the time to carry out social activities like this. Therefore, of course the company supports this activity,” Bumantra said.
