Timotius Nicky Pramata or Nicky, grew up around oil palm plantations. His father worked as a security guard at PT Inti Indosawit Subur, part of Asian Agri.

“Since I was a little boy, I was so familiar with oil palm plantations,” he said. “As I grew up, I was so excited to see the activities in the plantation, thus I wanted to follow my father’s footsteps, building a career in the same industry and joining Asian Agri.”

Nicky is the eldest of three siblings, and his dream of joining Asian Agri was boosted when he succeeded in obtaining a National Championship Scholarship from Tanoto Foundation in 2015 and decided to continue his education at Jambi University, majoring in Agricultural Product Technology.

Talking about his motivation to be part of Asian Agri, Nicky said, “Since I was a child living around oil palm plantations, I saw how an Estate Assistant or Mill Assistant worked, so I was very interested in becoming like them. I also saw that Asian Agri really cared about their employees, that’s a plus point and made me want to join even more.”

After graduating from college in 2019, he applied to become a Mill Assistant Trainee through the Graduate Trainee Program.

Nicky said that the most interesting experience during his graduate trainee program was how he was trained both physically and mentally at the Asian Agri Learning Institute (AALI).

“When I was at AALI, I was trained to be disciplined and independent, also mentally trained. The training at AALI made me a person with a better character so that I was ready to work in this industry,” he explained.

Asian Agri educates graduate trainees so that one day they can become good leaders. “In my opinion, the education obtained at AALI is very useful, not only being taught the best and sustainable palm oil management practices, but we are also trained to one day be good leaders,” Nicky said.

After graduating from AALI in 2019, Nicky was immediately assigned to Asian Agri’s palm oil mill in Tanah Datar, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra as an Operations Assistant for seven months, before transferring to his current role as a Process Assistant.

With his current assignment, Nicky is responsible for analyzing problems in oil palm processing, monitoring production costs and production losses, planning a palm oil processing budget, and supervising palm oil processing.

As a graduate trainee alumnus, Nicky thinks that a person who wants to be part of Asian Agri through the graduate trainee program must have self-confidence and be able to explore his or her potential. “In my opinion, a graduate trainee should be able to identify his potential, which will support them to achieve their career goal in the palm oil industry,” Nicky said.
