Jambi, 17 November 2016 – Acknowledging the importance of education for children, Asian Agri and Tanoto Foundation conducted a training on audiovisual usage as a learning method for teachers from 26 early childhood education centers which are located in the company’s plantation area in Jambi Province.

Audiovisual technology is not only used in entertainment tools, but are also effective to enhance learning, and is used as a learning medium by many schools in big cities. 

“This training equips teachers with the skills to use audiovisual tools to support the students’ learning. The use of audiovisual brings a positive impact in terms of stimulating the students’ senses and makes them more active participants in the learning process,” said Asian Agri Regional Head, Sahrul Hasibuan.

The training is expected to improve the quality of learning and teaching. This was conveyed by the Regional Project Manager of Tanoto Foundation Jambi, Dendi Satria Buana. “We hope that teachers can apply the audiovisual technology as one of the materials in the learning activities. In addition, we also want the kids to be more active and serious in their learning process,” he explained.

Asian Agri and Tanoto Foundation also handed five sets of audiovisual tools such as 5 units of 32-inch LED televisions, 5 speakers, and 5 DVD players to 5 early childhood education centers located in the area surrounding the company.

Out of 20 mills, 14 have received certification from ISPO (Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil where as the remaining mills have gone through stringent ISPO audit process. It is targeted to have both RSPO & ISPO certification completed by 2016.
