Asian Agri and police officers from Koramil 04 Talawi, Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra worked together to build sanitation facilities for local communities on Sunday (20/5).

The Clean Latrine Assistance program was launched by Koramil 04 Talawi Batu Bara Regency to provide sanitation facilities and hygiene awareness to people in Talawi District.

Asian Agri constructed five permanent latrines to support the scheme through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

“We used this opportunity to help the community, especially those who live in Talawi District. Health is one of our commitments to society. We hope that all people who live around the company’s operational areas can live in a healthy environment,” said Freddy Widjaya, Director of Asian Agri.

Asian Agri’s CSR program encompasses programs covering social, economic, education, health, infrastructure and environment development.

“Praise to God, Asian Agri through its business unit PT Supra Matra Abadi in Tanah Datar Plantation supported this environmental awareness program. We hope that with this clean latrine assistance, people could be more aware and willing to maintain cleanliness in this environment. We also hope that people could maintain these facilities properly,” said Captain H Marpaung.

“In addition to providing infrastructure assistance, we hope that we could also change the mindset and habits of people to start implementing a healthy lifestyle. Healthy living is very important to avoid various diseases, which could be also detrimental to society,” said Welly Pardede, Head of Sustainability Operations & CSR at Asian Agri.
