[Waspada] Asian Agri continues to embrace plasma smallholders

By May 30, 2018No Comments

Asian Agri continues its commitment to fostering palm oil farmers to become its partners via the plasma or independent smallholder partnership system.

Besides that, Asian Agri also encourages local smallholders to become the second largest palm oil supplier in Indonesia, who are able to meet palm oil requirements, both in terms of quality and quantity.

“The capacity building of farmers must continue to develop because they will be the ones determining the success of the palm oil industry in Indonesia,” said Fadhil Hasan, Asian Agri Director of Corporate Affairs.

Bukit Sanjaya, Asian Agri Head of Operations, previously said the company will continue to reach out to smallholders through the One to One Commitment partnership program, in order to raise palm oil productivity in North Sumatra, Riau and Jambi provinces.

“Our goal through the One to One Commitment is to create farmer-owned and managed palm oil plantations whose size is the same as Asian Agri’s core plantations – 100,000 hectares – by 2018,” he said.

The One to One Commitment program also provides guidance to farmers to manage their plantations with the best practices.
