The national army commander, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and national police chief, General Idham Azis returned to a working visit in Pekanbaru, Riau Province to check the handling of forest and land fires (Karhutla).
Before conducting the Riau Province Forest and Land Fire (Karhutla) Coordination Meeting in 2020 at the regional building in Pekanbaru, the group moved from the Roesmin Nurjadin Air Field to the Riau Province Forest and Land Fire Volunteer Command Post in Purna MTQ Pekanbaru. Forest and land fire volunteers consist of several elements such as Tagana, SAR, mass organizations and associations of oil palm entrepreneurs including those from the PT Arara Abadi – APP Sinar Mas, Fire Free Village Fire Response Team (RPK) Asian Agri and others.
Hafiz Hazalin Sinaga, manager of the Fire-Free Village at Asian Agri, said that the participation of Asian Agri is a form of the company’s readiness in preventing forest and land fires. Asian Agri in carrying out its operations has always supported the sustainable palm oil industry by implementing a ‘no-burn’ policy since 1994. In addition, Asian Agri has also joined the Fire-Free Alliance to work with partners to tackle the problem of forest and land fires since 2016.
