[Biodiesel Magazine] Palm Oil Certification Reaches 21 Percent Penetration in Global Market

Palm oil certification under the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil standard has reached a remarkable 21 percent penetration of the global market, Biodiesel Magazine reported. 

This watershed achievement is paving the way for product manufacturers to incorporate certified palm oil into their product ingredient specifications, shifting entire industries and making a positive difference for people and the planet. Asian Agri joined RSPO in 2006, and has been working to spread certification even further through a project with smallholder farmers. In 2013, the pilot group became the first independent small-scale farmers in Indonesia to be certified under RSPO standards. From the pilot project, Asian Agri help 349 smallholders gain certification. The project had the potential to not only benefit the environment, but to help the smallholders increase their yields and thereby their income.
