Asian Agri believes that regular, pro-active and effective community engagement is a critical factor to our success. We believe in respecting the rights of the communities we partner with and the people we employ. As the pioneer in Indonesia’s Plasma Smallholder Partnership Program, Asian Agri is committed to improve the livelihood of communities through long-term partnerships with smallholders and employees.

The Community and Society Right Protection for Development

Asian Agri respects the rights of communities to give or withhold their free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) for the use of their lands. We always conduct an environmental impact assessment (EIA) and actively engage the community. We have developed a system where complaints and concerns from the community can be addressed in a timely, transparent and responsible manner.

Developing the Community

We help develop the community through various livelihood training programs and infrastructure projects. We invite and train smallholders to be part of traceable and sustainable supply chain. Infrastructure projects that address issues of water accessibility, public sanitation and a lack of houses of worship, help improve the quality of life.

Respecting Human Rights

We respect the International Declaration of Human Rights. We believe that everyone deserves equal and proper treatment. We fight against discrimination in our operation. Our company policy recognizes diversity and respect individual differences in religion and spirituality, race, national origin, age, gender, and ensures pressure-free working environment. We protect the rights of the vulnerable such as the elderly, women and children. We take any case of abuse and sexual harassment very seriously and will spare no effort in our investigations.

Respecting Employee Rights

Asian Agri values the rights of our employees. We adhere to labor laws and regulations. We prohibit the employment of people under the age of 18. We keep an orderly record of our personnel files. We follow the provincial minimum wage. We communicate salary arrangements (initial salaries, increments, bonuses, allowances etc) in a transparent and fair manner.

We built our residential complexes to provide for our employees’ needs such as having access to clean water, electricity and proper sanitation facilities. We also ensure that each residential complex has a medical facility and properly trained medical personnel.

We value our employees’ families and provide facilities for them. We have built kindergarten and elementary schools, as well as daycare centers to provide for quality education for their children. We have arranged bus services to safely transport the children to and from their homes. We have built other social facilities to support our employees’ interaction with other families such as sports facilities and houses of worship. We are committed to providing our employees with a clean, healthy and safe environment for their families to live and grow.
