Pelalawan, 13 October 2025 – In an effort to support the improvement of community life around its operational areas, one of Asian Agri’s business units, PT Inti Indosawit Subur (PT IIS), provided educational assistance and alternative economic support to two foster villages, Tri Mulya Jaya and Ukui Dua, located in Ukui District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau. The handover of this assistance took place at the Tri Mulya Jaya Village Hall on October 10, 2025.

In his remarks, Pengarapen Gurusinga, Regional Head of Riau at Asian Agri, stated that this activity is part of the company’s commitment to sustainability through the Asian Agri 2030 Program. “Asian Agri has a long-term vision reflected in the Asian Agri 2030 Program, which is built on four main pillars, one of which is Inclusive Growth. Today’s activity embodies this pillar, focusing on improving the quality of life in the community through better access to education and the development of micro-enterprises to become self-reliant and competitive,” he said.

This program is part of Asian Agri’s commitment to help children access proper education and inspire them to keep learning. A total of 22 educational support packages were distributed through the Bag-To-School program in Tri Mulya Jaya Village and Ukui Dua Village. The assistance included 10 packages for elementary school students, 6 for middle school students, and 6 for high school students, each containing a quality school bag, stationery supplies, uniforms, and shoes.

This support was warmly received by the community and local government. H. Narko, the Regional Coordinator of the Ukui District Education Office, expressed his appreciation for Asian Agri’s contribution. “We hope parents continue to encourage their children to attend school. Education may be free, but needs such as clothing and school supplies still have to be met by the families themselves. That is why Asian Agri’s assistance is so meaningful—it helps ease the families’ burdens and fosters children’s enthusiasm for learning. Never feel inferior about pursuing education at higher levels,” he said.

In addition to supporting education, Asian Agri is also actively promoting community economic development through the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Previously, the company held outreach programs to help residents identify the village’s key commodities with economic potential and provide training in business strategies. This support was further realized through the provision of goats to Tri Mulya Jaya Village and Ukui Dua Village. Each village received six goats, consisting of two males and four females.

Ukui District Head, Joko Hadi Syaifudin Zuhri, expressed his appreciation for this initiative and hoped that the assistance would have a tangible impact on the community’s well-being. “May the distribution of this livestock aid serve as a first step toward improving the welfare of our people, especially in economic and health aspects. The hope is that this assistance will not only be received but also cared for and developed to provide long-term benefits. Let us show that this support can succeed, grow, and truly enhance the well-being of our residents,” he said.

Through this year’s Bag-To-School program, Asian Agri will distribute a total of 265 educational packages to 78 students across 28 villages in Riau. The aid includes 140 packages for elementary school students, 75 for junior high students, and 50 for high school students. In addition, the program also provides support for the development of MSMEs to seven business groups from seven villages.
