Labuhanbatu, April 25, 2025 — Four business units of Asian Agri — PT Hari Sawit Jaya (PT HSJ), PT Indo Sepadan Jaya (PT ISJ), PT Supra Matra Abadi (PT SMA), and PT Rantau Sinar Karsa (PT RSK) — were honored for their contributions to corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives at the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbang) in Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra. The awards reflect the local government’s appreciation for the private sector’s active involvement in supporting regional growth.

The awards were presented by Labuhanbatu’s regional secretary, Hasan Heri Rambe, in a ceremony attended by Regent Maya Hasmita and Deputy Regent Jamri. The Musrenbang forum carried the theme “Collaboration and Innovation in Building Villages and Organizing Cities Toward a Smart and Radiant Labuhanbatu.”

In his remarks, Deputy Regent Jamri, representing Regent Maya Hasmita, emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration to promote inclusive and sustainable development. He said, “The presence of all stakeholders at this year’s Musrenbang RKPD Labuhanbatu is proof of our shared commitment to regional progress. We need collaboration to develop Labuhanbatu because not all community proposals can be accommodated by the Regional Budget (APBD). Therefore, support from the community and businesses through CSR programs is essential. I am optimistic that with cooperation in health, education, and infrastructure, we can achieve a Smart and Radiant Labuhanbatu together.”

As part of this commitment, Asian Agri runs various CSR programs focused on improving the quality of life for communities around its operational areas, including Labuhanbatu. These programs include village infrastructure development, disaster mitigation assistance, sustainable agriculture training for smallholders, and support for education and health services.

The General Manager of PT HSJ, Andy Prasetyo, said the award reflects close cooperation between the company, the community, and local government. “This award is both a reminder and encouragement for us to continue contributing to the community. We believe business sustainability must go hand in hand with social welfare. In Labuhanbatu, we want to ensure the company’s presence brings real benefits, especially in health, education, and the environment,” he said.

Guided by the 5C philosophy — Community, Country, Climate, Customer, and Company — Asian Agri sees this award as motivation to strengthen partnerships with the government in building an inclusive and sustainable region. Moving forward, the company plans to expand and improve its CSR programs as a long-term commitment to delivering tangible benefits to communities and the environment.

About Asian Agri

Founded in 1979, Asian Agri is one of Indonesia’s foremost companies in crude palm oil production, managing over 100,000 hectares of oil palm plantations and employing over 20,000 people.

As a pioneer of the Indonesian Government’s Smallholder Transmigration Core Plantation Programme (PIR-Trans), Asian Agri has partnered with 30,000 scheme smallholders in Riau and Jambi, who collectively manage 60,000 hectares of oil palm plantations. The company also fosters partnerships with independent smallholders to enhance their welfare and drive socio-economic growth.

Committed to sustainable practices, Asian Agri upholds a zero-burning policy and implements plantation best management practices to help smallholders boost productivity, increase crop yields, and improve supply chain traceability while supporting their journey towards certification. Asian Agri’s mills leveraged advanced technology and self-generated green energy to minimize greenhouse gas emissions.

Asian Agri’s plantations, as along with their scheme smallholder plantations, are full Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) certified, underscoring the company’s commitment to responsible and sustainable palm oil production.
