Building Partnerships with Farmers is a Central Part of our Business

Smallholders have always been an essential part of Asian Agri’s business.

Asian Agri is one of the biggest companies with the largest number of partnership with smallholders in Indonesia.

We started the partnership program in 1987 when we became a pioneer of the Indonesian Government Transmigration Program (PIR-Trans) through the Plasma Smallholders program in Riau and Jambi Province. By implementing the same program as with plasma smallholders, since 2012 the partnership was extended to reach more independent smallholders in North Sumatra, Riau and Jambi Provinces.

In 2017, Asian Agri established One to One Partnership Commitment, which is a plan to match one hectare of company ‘s plantation with one hectare owned by smallholder farmers.

As well as providing them with a market for their crops, Asian Agri provides on-going support to raise living standards and boost yields of their plantations, such as training, assistance and modern equipment. We also provide smallholders with alternative sources of income when oil palms reach the end of their useful lives and must be replanted.

To date Asian Agri partners with more than 30,000 smallholders, bringing about positive impact on their quality life and the sustainable palm oil management in Indonesia.
