Medan, 28 April 2020 – Tanoto Foundation (TF) and Asian Agri donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Coronavirus Disease Mitigation Acceleration Task Force. The PPEs were received today by Deputy Governor of North Sumatra, H. Musa Rajekshah at the task force’s post in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia.

The donation package given by Hadi Susanto, Head of Asian Agri’s Common Services , who was accompanied by Ariston Noverry Fau, Head of Asian Agri’s SSL, demonstrated the commitment of Tanoto Foundation (TF) and RGE to support Indonesian health workers who are fighting COVID-19.

Witnessed by several officials from the Government (Forkopinda) of North Sumatra Province, Hadi Susanto gave the donation consisting of 500 protective suits for health workers, 10,000 medical masks, 100 units of N95 masks, 10,000 pairs of gloves, and 50 pairs of surgical goggles.

“By providing PPE to protect frontline health workers, we hope that our Indonesian heroes, our health workers who area leading the fight against COVID-19, can work optimally to treat patients while protecting themselves from infection risks,” said Hadi.

During the ceremony, the Deputy Governor of North Sumatra expressed his appreciation for the company’s assistance. Musa said, “Thank you for the PPE donation from Asian Agri. We hope that this initiative will also be followed by other entrepreneurs so that we can stop the COVID-19 outbreak.”

In addition, Hadi shared that the distribution of PPEs will be extended to the Regional Government as well as to several hospitals in Asian Agri’s operational area. “In North Sumatra, we will distribute 80,000 masks, 8,400 protective suits for health workers, 250 ICU protective clothing, 85,000 pairs of gloves, and 265 pairs of surgical goggles.”

Tanoto Foundation and RGE group which includes Asian Agri, has been distributing PPEs to COVID-19 designated hospitals. To date, TF and RGE group has donated 1 million masks, 1 million gloves, 3,000 pairs of surgical goggles and 100,000 ICU and non-ICU protective suits in support of the fight against COVID-19 in Indonesia.
