Asian Agri and Tanoto Foundation have built a library in a local school, reported Jambi Independent.

State Elementary School (SDN) 159 / V, Tanjung Benanak, Merlung District, West Tanjab City, received a new library and a health unit as part of Asian Agri’s commitment to local communities.

The school had already received library books from Tanoto Foundation, but the library was housed in a temporary building.

The school responded to a request from Asian Agri for projects to support, and the new library began to take shape.

“When we preparing the CSR proposals, we always aim for our team to identify what are the real needs of the school,” said Welly Pardede, Head of Sustainability & CSR at Asian Agri.

“The quality of education in the village is really important to support the next generation.”

The head of the school, Tapsirudin, thanked Asian Agri’s business unit PT Inti Indosawit Subur and Tanoto Foundation for their assistance.

“Previously we have received library books and library management training from Tanoto Foundation, but it is still constrained by the condition of the room because it was a semi-permanent building. So when PT Inti Indosawit Subur provides us the library and UKS (health facility), of course we are very grateful, “said Tapsirudin.
